Foreign Exchange Rateboard

These rateboards are used primarily by financial institutions to display the latest up-to-date information to customers regarding Foreign Exchange Rates and Interest Rates. Rateboards can be manufactured in a range of colours, utilizing corporate Logos and design.


 

OVERVIEW / DESCRIPTION
Rateboards are numeric electronic LED (Light Emitting Diode) Displays used to display important numerical or statistical information. Common applications for Rateboards are as:

  • Foreign Exchange Indicators
  • Interest Rate Indicators
  • Tariff or Price Indicators

The main parameters describing a Rateboard Display are:
Number of Columns: - This is the amount of vertical columns a rateboard display consists of.
The standard number of columns for PolyComp Rateboards Displays are 1, 2, 3 & 4 column. Custom number of vertical columns are available on request.
Number of Rows: - This is the number of horizontal rows a rateboard display consists of.
The standard number of rows for PolyComp Rateboard Displays are 12 and 20, but a custom number of horizontal rows are also available on request.

NOTE: Each row of each column is able to display 6 digits and decimal points.

Options
All standard rateboards have the option of being manufactured with additional display options:

  • Moving Message Alphanumeric Display
  • Date and Time Display
  1. Moving Message Alphanumeric Display - This is a 16 or 24 character, single line, 30mm character height display, added to the rateboard giving it the ability to display Text Messages in addition to the numerical information. The Moving Message Alphanumeric Display has all the functionality of a Standard PolyComp Alphanumeric Display, including:
  2. Transition Functions - There are 15 attractive transitional functions including: - Appear, Wipe, Open, Lock, Rotate, Right, Left, Roll Up, Roll Down, Ping Pong, Fill Up, Paint, Fade In, Jump, Slide.
  3. Tempo - This is the time duration that each page is displayed for. 9 different tempos are available.
  4. Pre-Scheduling - Each page programmed into the display can be scheduled to display at a specific day, date & time.
  5. Auto Centering - The text entered into the display is automatically centered, providing a symmetrical, visually appealing display.
  6. Character Options - Upper and Lower Case letters, Bold characters, Enlarged characters, Flashing characters.
  7. Real Time Clock & Calendar - Used to display the Date, Month, Day & Time on the display.
  8. Back-up battery - No loss of memory or time in case of power failure.
  9. Date and Time Displays - These are 45mm high 7 segment LED displays, used to display numerical information. When included in the design of the rateboard, they display the Date and Time.

OPERATION

PolyComp Ratebaord Displays are easily programmable, with various methods of operation to suit almost any application.

Keyboard Operation.
The simplest way to program a Rateboard Display, is using the standard PolyComp RMSP-100 Infra-Red Keyboard. The keyboard is simply pointed at the display and the message is typed into the display.

PC Operation
PolyComp Rateboard Displays can also be programmed from remote locations using PC's and Windows Compatible Software. The displays can be connected to PC's in various ways:

  • Connected directly to a PC's Serial Communication Port
  • Via dial-up modem
  • Over Ethernet TCP/IP network

Rates are then edited and composed on PC and then downloaded or sent to the display.

COMMUNICATION OPTIONS

  • RS232 - Connected directly to the serial communication port of a PC. The cabling is limited to a maximum of 50 meters between the PC and the display.
  • RS232 is suitable for single display applications with short cable lengths.
  • RS485 - Connected to the serial communication port of a PC via a RS232 to RS485 converter. Suitable for use in connecting many signs together on the same cable with no conflicts, in electrically noisy environments.
  • Ethernet - Connected directly into a TCP/IP 10BaseT Ethernet network, and assigned its own IP address. Suitable for use where there is an existing network infrastructure.
  • Modem - Connected directly to a modem that answers an incoming call from the PC operator, and will disconnect after the message has been transmitted. Suitable for use where there is an existing telephone line and other communication options are unsuitable
